Art and culture in Wellington

City to Sea Bridge, Wellington
From houses to rubbish bins, walkways to waterfront sculptures. Then there’s the galleries, museums and shows that Wellington is busting with!
I recently had the pleasure of spending 3 days in Wellington, based around a visit to the World of Wearable Art Show. While I was there my many walks in and around the city included lots of art.

Then there were the museums and art galleries. I wish I’d had more time to visit more, but the few I managed to see were incredible!
Gallipoli exhibition at Te Papa
As mentioned in a previous post, Te Papa is one of the best museums in the country I think. With the exhibitions and detail that is put into them it’s one of the top spots to visit!

The Wellington City Art Gallery
While waiting for a shuttle to Zealandia I nipped into the nearest gallery which happened to be the Wellington City Art Gallery. It was a great find with a range of art – from the quirky sculptures to colourful pop art.

It seems everywhere you look in Wellington there is a piece of art to delight, sometimes you just have to look a bit harder than the casual Wellingtonian!
