Brighter mornings

Brighter mornings

Sometimes travel takes you to your happy place. One that makes you smile. One that takes your breath away. One that puts you in a good place to start your day.

I’m lucky that I’ve found a spot just like that over the last few months that I visit every morning.

In this spot I’ve seen countless sunrises through winter and as the sun begins to rise earlier leading into a Kiwi Spring, I’ve been seeing how the colours of the nature around me change and how the water glistens.

This is a spot near Westhaven marina in the central city area of Auckland. I park my car and get started on a decent 20min or so walk into work. I reach this spot each morning with an incredible view, wander down the stairs and then along the footpath.

The footpath rises again so I get yet another stunning look back at the Auckland Harbour Bridge before descending toward Victoria Park and my day of work.

It really is a lovely spot, even in the misty mornings where the sun isn’t seen. I feel really grateful to have found such a lovely location to appreciate each morning.

This is my daily ‘happy place’. Do you have one?

P.S. This month I’m actively doing more than 10,000 steps a day (trying to improve each day, currently around 12,000) in an effort to raise money for children and adults with cerebral palsy. It’s all part of Steptember and we welcome any size donations, no matter how small – every little bit helps! To find out more visit https://stept.io/4uNdZrC
