Cinque Terre – Walking through 5 little Italian Villages, A Top Travel Experience

Vernazza, Cinque Terre, Italy
Cinque Terre is a little area of 18km along the coast of Italy in the Liguria region. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage site, so it’s gotta be good right? ABSOLUTELY!
I opted to stay in the middle village called Vernazza and walk south one day and north the next. It was a great decision that allowed me to take my time in each village and enjoy the coastal walk rather than just training between all the villages.

The walk was a pretty easy one south to Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. Each village held its own little beauty to take in and enjoy.

The trek to Monterosso was a bit trickier, with some thin paths and some steep stairs at the entrance to the village. So worth it though! I enjoyed multiple focaccia breads with delicious tomato and pesto toppings. Dinner was stuffed mussels by the beach and to this day, the only mussels I’ve really enjoyed eating!

There’s vineyards, shops and so much to enjoy between the villages. I highly recommend visiting if you’re in Europe at some point. However, book accomodation in advance and check if any passes are required, because in recent times there has been word about limiting tourists in Cinque Terre to protect it more.
